MISSION

The Rights Project will work alongside marginalized communities in the Greater Toronto Area to share and spread information on our legal rights and provide those within these communities with the tools to confidently advocate for themselves. We are aware that our present society has disproportionately denied and impinged upon the rights of marginalized communities. This is why The Rights Project exists. Our current education system does not adequately provide the tools or resources to confidently navigate the Canadian legal system. We will address this by creating accessible pathways to legal education, holding workshops and seminars, advocating on behalf of our communities, and partnering with legal professionals, organizations and individuals.  We also aim to foster a collective consciousness on various social and political issues. We hold ourselves accountable to being led by the community, for the community. Our hope is that through education and collaborative discussions, communities will feel empowered to challenge historically oppressive institutions, including our colonial legal system, and defend one another’s human rights.
